Tipsy Lemon Stitch Baby Hat
This newborn baby hat is part of my donation to a friend’s charity collection, and is inspired by Shelli, my crochet and blog mentor. If you wish to make this larger for a 0-3 month old, use a 5.5mm hook. For instructions on how to complete the Tipsy Lemon stitch, please see the tutorial on my blog, by clicking or copying this link:

You will need
Approximately 1 1/4 oz of #4 yarn (65 yd)
5.0 mm hook
Yarn needle
Scissors
Finished size
5.5” diameter, by 5.5” high.
Abbreviations
Ch Chain
St Stitch
SC Single crochet
HDC Half double crochet
HBDC Herringbone double crochet
Sl St. Slip stitch
Notes
This hat is worked from top down.
Single chain at beginning of each round is not included in stitch count.
You will be working into the slip stitch in each row so be sure to keep it even in size to other stitches.
The tipsy lemon stitch has the advantage of hiding the slip stitch join and SC into next round well into the fabric of the work.
